PASSPORT is a travel passport that lives on your iPhone. We built it so that your travels stay yours: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking, and we never receive your trips, notes, photos or name.
This policy covers the PASSPORT app for iPhone and iPhone Duo and this website, meetpassport.app. It explains what stays on your device, the little that leaves it, and the choices you have.
In short
- Your passport stays on your iPhone. Places, dates, notes, photos and your name are stored only on your device.
- No account, no ads, no tracking. PASSPORT has no sign-in, shows no advertising, and never tracks you across apps or websites.
- Anonymous usage counts. The app sends daily totals of which features are used, never anything about you. You can switch this off in Settings.
- Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account.
- This website sets no cookies. It uses cookieless, privacy-friendly visit statistics.
Who we are
PASSPORT is made by Kopa Studio ("we", "us"). Kopa Studio is responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at otasprint@gmail.com about anything here.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you put into your passport is stored only in PASSPORT's private storage on your device:
- the countries, territories and US states you add, with their dates, cities and trip details;
- the stamps, notes and passport editions in your book;
- the name or initials you choose for the holder page and the cover;
- copies of the photographs you add.
We don't run servers that hold this information, and there is no PASSPORT account to sync it to. Your device's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include the app's data. Those backups are handled by Apple under its terms.
Photographs
Photos you choose. When you add photos, PASSPORT uses Apple's photo picker. The app receives only the photos you select, never your whole library. For each one, PASSPORT stores a resized copy inside the app (at most 2048 pixels on the longest side). The copy carries no location information. Your original photo is never changed.
Photo suggestions (optional). If you tap Find photos from this trip, iOS asks whether PASSPORT may see your photo library. You can allow all photos, only some, or none. PASSPORT then looks, on your iPhone, at photos taken during that trip's dates. Where a photo has a location, the app checks that location against country borders stored inside the app. You see what it found, and nothing is added until you choose it. This matching happens entirely on your device and never sends anything anywhere. PASSPORT only looks at your library when you ask it to find photos. You can change the permission at any time in the iOS Settings app › PASSPORT › Photos.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which features help people, and which don't, PASSPORT counts on your iPhone how often things happen each day. For example: "a stamp was added", "the Journey was opened", "a page was turned".
What a count can include. The name of the action plus a few coarse details from fixed lists:
- whether a place was a country or a US state;
- how precise a date was (day, month or year);
- whether the phone was folded or unfolded;
- the app's language, version and release channel;
- rough number ranges (such as "5–9 stamps").
For edition purchases, the counts also include the edition, its price and the currency.
What it never includes. Your name or initials, notes, places, cities, dates, photos, search text or location. It also contains no identifier for you, your device or your installation of the app. Every count is a daily total, so nothing is recorded about individual moments or sessions.
When and where it's sent. At most once every six hours, when you open the app, PASSPORT sends the counts for completed days (never the current day) to our analytics service. That service runs on Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) in the United States. The counts are added to everyone else's totals. Our service doesn't read, log or store your network (IP) address or any other details about your device. Like any internet service, Supabase's infrastructure keeps standard technical request logs for a short time for operation and security, and these can include an IP address. We don't use those logs, and they are governed by Supabase's terms.
How long it's kept. Totals are kept for 13 months, then deleted. Counts that haven't been sent yet stay on your iPhone for up to 35 days. Days that have been delivered are removed from your device.
Your choice. You can switch this off at any time: Index › Settings › Share anonymous usage counts. Switching it off stops all sending and deletes any counts that haven't been sent.
We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, using only anonymous totals. We never use these counts for advertising, and we never sell or share them.
Purchases in the Atelier
PASSPORT is free. The Atelier offers optional passport editions as one-time purchases.
- Purchases are made through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment. We never receive your card details, your name, your email address or your Apple Account.
- The app checks Apple's digitally signed confirmation of a purchase on your iPhone, using Apple's StoreKit. We don't operate purchase servers.
- Restore purchases asks Apple to resend the purchases made with your Apple Account.
- Apple's handling of your purchase is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Anonymous totals of Atelier activity, such as "an edition was purchased", with its edition, price and currency, are part of the usage counts above. They are never linked to you.
Sharing, backups and feedback
- Sharing. PASSPORT creates a share image only when you tap Share. You choose where it goes through Apple's share sheet, and we don't receive it.
- Backups. Save a backup… writes your trips, notes and photo copies to a folder you choose, such as iCloud Drive or Files. Nothing is uploaded to us.
- Ratings. Rate PASSPORT opens the App Store, where ratings and reviews are handled by Apple.
- Feedback and support. Send feedback opens your own email app. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply and help you. We keep support emails only as long as needed to resolve your request, and we delete them sooner if you ask.
This website
- Hosting. meetpassport.app is hosted by Vercel (Vercel Inc.). To deliver the site and keep it secure, Vercel processes standard request information, such as your IP address and browser type, in short-lived server logs.
- Visit statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited, where visitors come from (for example a search engine), their country and their type of device. It uses no cookies and stores no personal identifiers. A visit is recognised only by a temporary value that is discarded within a day.
- No cookies, no trackers. The site sets no cookies, shows no ads and loads no third-party tracking scripts or social-media embeds. Fonts, images and videos are served from our own domain.
- Stored in your browser. A few preferences stay only in your own browser and are never sent to us: whether sound is on, the countries you tap on the interactive map, and the name you type on the sample passport page. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Children
PASSPORT is suitable for everyone and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Keeping and deleting your information
| Information | Where it lives | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your trips, notes, photo copies and name | Your iPhone only | Until you delete them or the app |
| Usage counts not yet sent | Your iPhone | Up to 35 days, or until you switch sharing off |
| Anonymous usage totals | Supabase, United States | 13 months |
| Support emails | Our mailbox | Only as long as needed to help you |
| Website visit statistics | Vercel | Aggregated statistics, kept under Vercel's terms |
To delete everything PASSPORT stores on your device, delete the app. Make a backup first if you want to keep your passport. You can also edit or delete individual trips at any time in the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of personal information. Because PASSPORT keeps your travel data on your device and its usage counts are anonymous, we generally hold no personal information about you. The exception is anything you send us by email. Write to otasprint@gmail.com and we'll help. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how PASSPORT handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to how your information is used, we'll say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
